Project 6 Church of Christ

We arrived at the Philippines after an 11 hour flight from Honolulu. We were joyfully met by the preacher Marlow Garlitos, and his wife Lydia and son Jojo. They treated us to a real Filipino dinner at a restaurant and then dropped us off at the hotel. Katie and I were exhauseted and didn't have any trouble going to sleep.
Church on Sunday was really encouraging. From what I could tell, there were about 30 people in attendance. But you couldn't tell it from the singing - it seemed like there were at least double that number. And they sang good! A young man did a good class on Acts 14:8-18. Apparently, every so often he will give out written exams, and then whoever scores the highest gets a little reward. Marlow usually preaches, but he went to the airport to pick up Vernon and Eddie. So another man preached a good sermon on Philemon.
They seem to have a lot of good works going on here: fellowship meal every Sunday, door knocking in the area each Sunday from 4-6pm, and a parent's/children's class Monday - Friday 9-11am. They have a good website - www.project6coc.org.
The children's class here was our first one. It was a little disorganized in the beginning, but it worked out okay. We're looking forward to doing the next one.
Thank you all for your prayers and support of this mission. Internet access is unpredictable, so I'll update this when I can.
